Seed Oils for Cooking

Expand your pantry staples and boost flavor in your cooking with Stony Brook’s culinary seed oils! Our oils are made with locally grown seed and milled at our Finger Lakes NY production kitchen. Each gourmet seed oil is made from one ingredient: a single seed variety that is barrel roasted, expeller-pressed and bottled in small batches. We offer pumpkin seed oil, organic sunflower oil, butternut squash seed oil, and  raw hemp seed oil, though availability varies depending on farm sources. Please note that flax, hemp, and pumpkin seed oils are generally not suitable for cooking at high heat but should be used as a finishing oil.  Sunflower and butternut squash seed oils are suitable for medium or medium-high heat cooking, and not for use in deep frying.
